Police arrested a government school teacher from near Cholavaram in Tiruvallur district for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
Srinivasan, who works as a teacher in a government school called a 12-year-old student into his room and sexually assaulted her, it is alleged. He had also threatened her not to reveal this to anyone.
The horrific incident came to light when doctors examined the girl after she swooned from pain at her residence.
When she returned home, her parents saw her sitting aloof. She suddenly fainted. The parents took her to a private hospital where she told doctors that there was pain at her lower abdomen. After examining the girl, the doctors confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted by someone.
Angered over this, her family members, parents of other students and locals laid seige to the school. Tension prevailed until the Cholavaram police reached the spot and apprehended Srinivasan.
The parents filed a complaint immediately and the Srinivasan was arrested under Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, 2012. The school looked like a war zone as angry parents laid siege over the premises demanding justice.
