Tamil Nadu theatres get the green light for 6 am shows as producers welcome new policy

Tamil Nadu’s decision to permit up to six screenings a day for new film releases, including early morning shows starting at 6 am, has received a positive response from film producers.

The revised permission applies during the first week of new releases across the state. Several films scheduled to hit theatres on November 6 have already begun opening bookings for early morning screenings.

Among the releases benefiting from the move are Suriya’s Scene, Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman 2 and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor.

Passion Studios welcomed the government’s decision, describing it as a progressive step that would provide greater flexibility in theatre programming and create opportunities for films of different scales.

The production house also thanked Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and Rajmohan, the state minister handling the film technology and cinematograph portfolio, for supporting the initiative.

Vels Film International, which is backing Mookuthi Amman 2, also expressed appreciation for the extended screening schedule.

In a statement, the production company said the permission for six daily shows and 6 am screenings would help the film reach a wider audience across Tamil Nadu.

The producers said the move would benefit cinema-goers while providing additional opportunities for the Tamil film industry and theatre owners.
