~For first time in six decades, Filmfare will host its annual gala awards ceremony outside Mumbai~<\/em><\/p>\n

Bringing the coveted \u2018Black Lady\u2019 along with the best of Indian superstars to the state of Assam for the very first time, Filmfare today announced that the prestigious 65th Filmfare Awards 2020 will be held in Guwahati. This landmark announcement was made in the presence of eminent dignitaries from the state that included Mr. SarbanandaSonowal – Honourable Chief Minister, Govt of Assam, Mr. Chandan Brahma – Honourable Minister for Tourism, Government of Assam, Mr. Vineet Jain – Managing Director, Bennett, Coleman and Company Limited, Mr. JayantaMallaBaruah – Honourable Chairman, Assam Tourism Development Corporation Ltd,\u00a0 Dr. M. Angamathu, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Tourism Department, Government of Assam\u00a0\u00a0and Deepak Lamba – CEO of World Wide Media. Taking this association forward, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed today between the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and The Times Group, organisers of the event.<\/p>\n

Over the years, the Filmfare awards have evolved to be the country’s longest running and most sought-after awards show. Breaking new ground for the 65th edition of the most-anticipated award ceremonies in the Indian film industry, Filmfare embarks on a new journey in one of the most scenic destinations\u00a0of our country. In a magnanimous celebration of talent, the gala event will once again bestow the artists of the film fraternity who have put in their hard work and dedication to excel in the field in the year 2019.<\/p>\n

Honorable Chief Minister of Assam Shri SarbanandaSonowal<\/strong>\u00a0in his address expressed his happiness at selecting Assam as the Venue for\u00a0 the Filmfare Award for the first time outside Mumbai. He said that this mega event by one of India\u2019s most prestigious media organization would ensure showcasing of Assam as\u00a0 one of the most attractive tourist destination of the country before billions of people across the world. The MoU signing event is the first milestone of this fruitful partnership.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. VineetJain\u00a0Managing Director- The Times Group said,\u00a0<\/strong>\u201cWhat we are witnessing today is a landmark announcement that sees the Filmfare Awards, one of the longest-running awards in the country, diversify its reach. Shri Chandan Brahma,\u00a0 Honorable Tourism Minister of Assamsaid <\/strong>that a Mega Event like the Filmfare Award in Guwahati could go a long way to change the perception of Assam before the rest\u00a0 of the country. He also said that the Tourism Industry would greatly benefit through the Global exposure that Assam would derive.<\/p>\n

Shri JayantaMallaBaruah, Hon\u2019ble Chairman,<\/strong> Assam Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. in his introductory address expressed his gratitude for Shri Vineet Jain, Managing Director, Bennett, Coleman and Company Limited for taking a personal interest\u00a0 in holding the Filmfare Awards in Guwahati. Shri Baruah also stressed that this Mega event would reach a 2 billion\u00a0 worldwidereachwhich could translate into\u00a0 phenomenal tourist footfalls in the near future.<\/p>\n

Earlier Shri M. Angamuthu, IAS,\u00a0 Commissioner & Secretary, Tourism<\/strong> Department , Government of Assam welcomed the dignitaries present in his brief welcome address and\u00a0 said that the Tourism Department would provide all necessary support to ensure the success of\u00a0 the Filmfare Awards.<\/p>\n
