STORY:
Thooku Durai (Ajith) lives in a village where he is admired and respected by all for his honesty and valour. He is also the apple of the eye of the whole family.
His life undergoes a change when Dr Niranjana (Nayanthara) visits the village for a health camp. Despite both having contrasting characters, they fall for each other and enter wedlock.
Though Niranjana initially strongly believes that they would make a good pair, she realises that she has made a wrong decision in marital life, when she finds Durai is not ready to stay away from disputes even after becoming father.
Following this, Niranjana, along with her little daughter, separates from Durai and moves to Mumbai. A decade passes. Durai, who is urged by his relatives to start a fresh life, goes to Mumbai to reunite with his wife and daughter.
There, he finds that the life of his daughter is under danger from Gautham Veer (Jagapathi Babu), a leading businessman who believes that Durai’s daughter is the reason behind the ill-health of his daughter.
The rest is all about how Durai protects her daughter and reunites with his wife, to lead that happily ever after life.
ANALYSIS
Director Siva, who seems to be fully aware that Viswasam was the last opportunity to prove himself, has made the movie a complete treat to not just to Ajith fans, but general audience too.
Each and every scene reflects the festival mood and the film is a complete treat for the whole family. Ajith steals the show from the start till end and he is there in almost every frame.
But, the highlight is, the ‘thala’ allows others to dominate him in certain scenes. Nayanthara once again delivers good and proves why she is so much celebrated, almost on par with top heroes.
Baby Anikha who has played Ajith’s daughter delivers a matured performance, while Vivek, Thambi Ramaiah, Robo Shankar and Yogi Babu provide comic relief. Music by Imman, Vetri’s cinematography and Ruben’s editing are the other highlights of the movie.
On the flip side, certain scenes remind us of Veeram, the first outing of Ajith and Siva. Also, the film follows a regular template and there is nothing new to offer. But these things won’t stop you from enjoying Viswasam this Pongal holidays.
