Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu 2: Breathless break

STORY:

Saravanan (Vikranth) is an active youngster who has an irresponsible father in the form of Saamy (Pasupathy). One day, Saravanan realises a truth about his dad.

He comes to know that Saamy was actually a very good kabbadi player during his young days. However, he had to vacate his village and stop playing the sport due to some unforeseen circumstances.

Now, Saravanan takes it up as an ambition to restore the lost glory of his father. For that, he helps the local kabaddi team named Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu to emerge victorious in a tournament.

ANALYSIS:

Vikranth, who has been waiting for a break for almost a decade, gets one in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu. Set in the late 1980s, the film, a sequel to Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, speaks about rural life and the passion for kabaddi among youngsters there.

Vikranth has tried to give his best, while Pasupathy shines bright in his role. Suseenthiran, who had helmed the first part, had contributed the script of the sequel, directed by Selvasekaran.

The film hardly does justice to its characters and the writing is very mediocre. The romantic track falls flat, while the comedy too doesn’t work.

Selvasekaran, who has tried to bank on the success and familiarity of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, should have made the sequel an engaging one to sustain the interest of the audience.
