Who has really committed the murder, is Shanmugam freed or not and whether Mahalingam and Vishagan are able to achieve the mission form the rest of Vanjagar Ulagam.
ANALYSIS
Vanjagar Ulagam, directed by Manoj Beedha, comes under three different genres- a murder mystery, a gangster saga and a neo-noir. Both the strength and weakness of the movie is that we are unable to classify it under one particular category.
The director has attempted to keep things cool and calm. As a result, scenes which are in need of tension too pass off slowly, slightly testing our patience. Having said that, this trick also adds suspense to the plot.
Performance wise, Guru Somasundaram has once again come up with a terrific act, while Ciby, Chandini, Anisha Ambrose, Hareesh Peradi and Vishagan Sulur Vanangamudi have done justice to their respective roles.
Sam C S’s musical score is one of the biggest strengths of the movie, while the cinematography is catchy and classy. At certain places, the dialogues look overdosed.
The director has narrated the story in a circuitous manner and the scenes which travel front and back add to the novelty. But the climatic revelations are easy to guess.
