STORY:

The story is set in the backdrop of Palani and the protagonist (Prithvi Rajan) hails from a middle class family. He falls for a girl (Veena Nandakumar) who is from a rich family which takes pride on its wealth and caste.

As her family comes to know about her affair, they try to separate the couple citing caste reason. But the lovers elope from their homes and get married.

Following this, Veena’s father Gajaraj dies of heart attack and her brother M S Kumar, who holds key position in a caste-based political outfit, vows to teach a lesson to her sister and her husband.

ANALYSIS:

In the past, films like Kaadhal and Subramanyapuram had highlighted how caste and status could play havoc in the lives of lovers. Thodraa is one more to the list.

But the movie is not great as the ones directed by Balaji Sakthivel and Sasikumar, respectively. At the same time, it has its own moments which keep us engaged and make us think about the society.

Prithvi Rajan gets his emotions right and but there is long way to go. Veena looks beautiful, while Akshayaa Premnath, Gajaraj and Kumar are adequate.

We cannot find fault with the intentions of director Madhuraj who has tried to drive home a message. But he could have delivered things in a better package, which would have entertained us better.
