Family facts

STORY:

Mahesh (Umapathy) and Aadhira (Kavya Suresh) are lovers. As they decide to live together, they approach their respective families, convince the elders and get their consent for the wedding.

While Mahesh has his sister Manonmani (Sukanya) and uncle Arunachalam (M S Baskar) at home, Aadhira’s family consists of mother Vadivambal (Seema), brother Arivu (Cheran) and uncle Kumaraguru (Thambi Ramaiah).

As the families start preparations for wedding, problems crop up between them. While Manonmani wants a gala wedding for her brother, Arivu believes in simple marriage for his sister.

As a result, things face hurdles and Mahesh and Aadhira, who try their best to bury the differences between their families, too get vexed at one point of time.

ANALYSIS:

Cheran, after a big break, tries to make a comeback with Thirumanam, which deeply analyses the pros and cons of marriage system. While doing so, it also tracks the emotions of people.

Cheran, who has played a key role besides wielding the megaphone, has done justice to both trades. Others in the cast, including Umapathy, Kavya, Sukanya, M S Baskar, Thambi Ramaiah and Seema, have performed well too.

Known for conveying messages through his movies, Cheran is at it again. Without making any commercial compromises, he has conveyed a family subject in a neat manner.

Though the film is technically average and moves at a slow pace, movies like Thirumanam are the need of the hour to convey apt messages to the society. Thirumanam can be watched with the whole family.
