Sindhubaadh
: Search for spouse

Rating: 3 out of 5

STORY:

Thiru (Vjay Sethupathi) is a small-time thief who, in association with his protege Super (Surya Vijay Sethupathi), indulges in pick-pockets and stealing from the rich.

He is slightly hearing impaired and is full of cheer and quirkiness. He comes across Venba (Anjali), who works as a contract labourer in Malaysia, and is in her native on leave.

The thief falls for Venba and begins to woo her. Venba understand the good heart of Thiru and accepts him. However, as work calls her, she leaves for Malaysia.

Thiru gets a distress call from Venba, who informs him that she has been kidnapped by a prostitution gang in Thailand. She requests him to come to Thailand to rescue her.

The rest is all about the journey of Thiru and Super to Thailand, where they have to take on Ling (Linga), a dreaded gangster, to rescue Venba.

ANALYSIS:

The duo of Vijay Sethupathi and director Arunkumar had given us memorable movies like Pannaiyarum Padminiyum and Sethupathi. Their third outing Sindhubaadh is neither as good as their earlier two films nor too bad.

Vijay Sethupathi is in his chirpy best, but the scene stealer is his son- Surya Vijay Sethupathi. The young gun performs with ease and he might even overtake his father in future.

Anjali rocks in the first half and touches our heart in the second half. Vivek Prasanna is good, while Linga is not as menacing as his character should be.

Vijay Kartik Kannan’s visuals are appealing and Yuvan Shankar Raja’s songs add value to the movie. The first half is natural and nice, while the second half is stretching like Kanni Theevu (Got the Sindhubaadh connection?)
