Saaho: Strong in action, weak in script
STORY:
Sidhant Nandan Saaho (Prabhas) is an undercover police officer. At the same time, he is an undercover criminal too. He has a shady past and is capable of doing extraordinary things.
Amritha Nair (Shraddha Kapoor) from the Mumbai crime branch is his colleague and Saaho falls for her. They are asked to investigate a big case involving high profile robberies.
The probe takes them to the imaginary city of Waaji. They realise that the case is connected to a multi-crore empire where a set of ruthless villains are ready to do anything.
The rest is all about how Saaho, with the help of Amritha, accomplishes the task(s) and emerges triumphant despite the multiple challenges posed at him.
ANALYSIS:
Saaho, written and directed by Sujeeth with Prabhas in the lead role, is undoubtedly one of the most stylish movies to come out in recent times. A lot of money and efforts have been invested.
The film opens with wide angles of massive structures and suave men, and it gets into the action mode pretty early on. Prabhas makes a terrific intro with a high voltage action scene and continues his great action all through the movie.
The movie has in its cast a long list of popular actors including Shraddha Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay and Murli Sharma and the production qualities are of top notch.
However, despite all the above plus points, Saaho fails to serve the expectations due to a weak script. While the story itself is not convincing, the way it has been narrated is convoluting.
If you expect a modern version of Baahubali in Saaho, you might get disappointed. But, if you are searching for India’s answer to Hollywood’s action movies, you might find it in Saaho.
