Namma Veettu Pillai: Family fair

STORY:

Arulmozhi Varman (Bharathiraja) is the head of a large family, which includes his sons, daughter and their children. Arumpon (Sivakarthikeyan) is the son of Varman’s second son (Samuthirakani), who is no more.

For Arumpon, his sister Thulasi (Aishwarya Rajesh) is his everything and he is ready to anything for her happiness. However, the rest of the members in the family hate her for a peculiar reason.

Circumstances force Thulasi to enter wedlock with Ayyanar (Nataraj), a ruffian in the vilage with whom Arumpon is already not in good terms.

Ayyanar gets Arumpon into trouble and the entire family is also facing a threat. The rest is all about how Arumpon solves all the issues and brings back peace in the family and smile on the face of his sister.

ANALYSIS:

For Sivakarthikeyan, who was waiting to deliver a super hit, here comes Namma Veetu Pillai. Directed by Pandiraj, the film is a perfect entertainer for the whole family, though it sounds like a sequel to the director’s last venture Kadaikutti Singam.

Sivakarthikeyan simply shines in all tasks- be it action, comedy, romance or sentiments. Giving him ample support is Soori. While there is a huge cast including Bharathiraja, Samuthirakani, Yogi Babu, Anu Immanuel, Natraj, Vela Ramamurthy, Naren, Subbu Panchu and Aishwarya Rajesh, everyone has a role to play and has done justice.

Especially, Aishwarya Rajesh is right fit for the role and she has performed well. While Pandiraj’s writing and execution make all the difference, the movie’s another hero is D Imman. His songs and background score, despite sounding popular, add value.

Cinematographer Nirav Shah has taken us to the village with his lens. On the flip side, the initial scenes appear very much like Kadaikutti Singam and many scenes are predictable.

However, with a power-house performer like Sivakarthikeyan on board and with an emotional script packed with all interesting ingredients, Namma Veetu Pillai serves delicacies for the whole family.
