Mei: Truth triumphs
STORY:
A young girl goes missing and her father (Charlie) lodges police complaint. The case is investigated by Karunakaran (Ajay Ghosh), who is a corrupt official.
As his seniors are not happy with the way the probe is progressing, they depute Muthu (Kishore), a honest police officer, to investigate the case.
In the meantime, Abinav Chandran (Nicky Sundaram), a foreign-returned aspiring physician, is charged with the reason behind the death of a pharmacy staff.
He is being chased by the police and is aided by Mithra (Aishwarya Rajesh), a medical representative. The rest is all about how Muthu connects the dots and nabs a medical racket.
ANALYSIS:
Medical thrillers have lately started storming Kollywood and the latest addition to the list is Mei, which has marked the acting debut of Nicky Sundaram, scion of the famed TVS family.
Directed by SA Bhaskaran, the film tries to present a gripping thriller that is about a shocking medical racket. While everything looks nice on paper, the execution part lacks the momentum, as is the case of many recent movies.
Nicky Sundaram makes a promising debut, but he still has to learn the nuances. Aishwarya Rajesh fits the bill well, while Kishore and Charlie deliver goods.
Despite being a thriller, the film lacks nail biting moments and sharp twists. However, the curiosity element has been well maintained and there are some anxious moments.
