Maya Tamil Movie Review

Magic land

STORY

Aari works with a magazine and he is assigned to do a supernatural series called ‘Maya’. While doing so, he and his friend get fascinated towards Mayavanam forest. He also comes to know about one Maya Maththews.

In the meantime, there is a struggling actress (Nayanthara) who is a single mother too. She regularly attends auditions and waits for a perfect break, even as takes care of her child.

At one point of time, both the stories meet and as it happens, we are thrown into a world of suspense, fear and horror. Many thrilling moments await us on screen.

ANALYSIS

It seems debutant director Ashwin Saravanan’s sole intention is to scare the audience, and he does it effectively in Maya. Unlike the recent horror movies, this has got some difference and uniqueness to it.

Nayanthara rocks with a solid performance. In fact, she kind of underplays her emotions but delivers a matured show. Aari of Nedunchalai fame emerges a bankable actor with Maya.

Ron Ethan Yohaan’s (what a different name) background score sends the chill down the spine. T S Suresh scores big time with his editing skills, while Sathyan Sooryan’s cinematography is a big plus.

Maya makes the heart skip a beat at places. At the same time, we should also say that the film is lengthy and badly needs some trimming, to make it more appealing to the audience.
