Kutty Story Movie Review
The anthology film Kutty Story has released today in theaters. With the inclusion of four segments directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, AL Vijay, Venkat Prabhu and Nalan Kumaraswamy, the film, in general, revolves around the concept of love and relationships in life.
Gautham Menon’s Edhirpaara Mutham begins with college buddies Aadhi (Vinoth Kishan) and Mrinalini (Amala Paul).
Years later, Aadhi (played by Gautham Menon) recounts to his friends and wife about a lunch he threw for Mrinalini that ended with a kiss.
Aadhi believes that the relationship is platonic even as his friend, Prabhakar (Robo Shankar), disagrees. What happens when Mrinalini, who is now married and settled abroad, meets Aadhi?
The film has everything that you expect from a Gautham Menon’s movie. It is a feel good flick filled with love and emotions.
In Aadal Paadal, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, a couple’s marriage comes under stress when the wife (Aditi Balan) catches her husband (Vijay Sethupathi) having an illicit affair.
Vijay Sethupathi and Aditi Balan are impressive in their characters. Nalan has given the story his own touch which is rather refreshing. This is one of the best films of the anthology.
Venkat Prabhu’s Logam is the story of a video gamer (Varun) who falls in love with a fellow player. However, the mystery surrounds who this mysterious player is.
The plot is interesting, however Venkat Prabhu could have concentrated a bit on the screenplay which would have added a little more spice to the subject.
Mega Akash plays Preethi, a college student in A L Vijay’s Avanum Naanum. Preethi informs her boyfriend Vikram (Amitash Pradhan) that she is pregnant.
Soon after this Vikram goes non-reachable. Preethi’s friend urges her to abort the child. But what does Preethi decide and what happens next forms the rest of the story. Vijay could have elaborated on the characters a little more which could have created a better impact.
