Kavan Tamil Movie Review
Visual Delight
STORY:
Thilak (Vijay Sethupathi) and Malar (Madonna Sebastian) are media students and are in love. But they break up. After completing college, Malar gets job in a popular television channel.
Somehow, Thilak too gets a job there and he tries his best to rekindle the relationship. Meanwhile, the channel is owned by
a big shot (Akash Deep Saigal) who is in partnership with a wicked politician Dheeran (Bose Venkat).
Thilak’s friend is Abdul (Vikranth). The latter and his lover protest against a biochemical factory owned by Dheeran. As tragedy strikes Abdul’s lover, Thilak decides to take on his boss and the politico.
Coming to his help is the owner (T Rajendhar) of a loss making television channel. How these Davids teach a fitting lesson to the cunning Goliaths forms the rest of Kavan.
ANALYSIS:
Success is half-assured for a film when a power-house performer like Vijay Sethupathi is in the cast. And if you add a sharp script, strong cast and rich production values, the end-product is Kavan.
The partnership of director K V Anand and writers Suba has a penchant of presenting thrillers with a social message and Kavan is no different. It exposes the other side of the media.
T Rajendhar, with his electrifying performance, enthralls us, while Madonna Sebastian has been given a multi-faceted role. Akash Deep Saigal is menacing, while Vikranth emotes well. Bose Venkat is like a typical scheming politician.
For the first time, K V Anand has opted for Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi for music and his calculation has not gone wrong. Need we say about camera work in Anand’s films? Though the film is less lengthy than some of the previous films of Anand, the second half could have still been more crisp.
Kavan is an entertainer with a message. You can fasten your seat belts for a pulsating roller-coaster ride.
