STORY:
Rich kids are being kidnapped in Bengaluru, but the victims get killed in the hands of a psycho killer even after their parents giving huge ransom. The case goes to the CBI.
The kidnapper-killer is so ruthless and daring that he reveals his identity over phone when top CBI officials are holding a press meet. He is Rudhra (Anurag Kashyap).
The case is being investigated by Anjali Vikramadityan (Nayanthara) and her team. During her journey to trap Rudhra, Anjali also has to face ego clashes from her boss Narayan (Devan).
In the meantime, she has a brother Arjun (Atharvaa) in Chennai and he is in love with Kritika (Raashi Khanna). With Kritika coming to Bengaluru after a fight with Arjun, he follows her to the capital city of Karnataka.
What starts as a professional rivalry between Rudhra and Anjali ends up in personal enmity. What happens next, why is Rudhra so ruthless and who wins in the end form the rest of Imaikka Nodigal
ANALYSIS:
Just two weeks after the comedy caper Kolamaavu Kokila, Nayanthara is back with a bang in a straight contrast crime thriller Imaikka Nodigal, directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu.
The movie, which runs for close to three hours, is based on an intelligent script and it is aptly backed by solid performances by the lead actors- Nayanthara, Atharvaa and Anurag Kashyap.
Nayanthara shows varied emotions well and this is one of her best performances till date. Atharvaa is right fit for the role, while the scene stealer is Anurag Kashyap. The Bollywood director, in his Kollywood entry, simply sends shiver down the spines of the audience.
R D Rajasekar’s cinematography is one of the biggest plus points of Imaikka Nodigal, while HipHop Tamizha Aadhi’s musical score gels well with the script.
With many intriguing sub-plots and racy twists and turns, Imaikka Nodigal stands different as a thriller. But length and songs at unwanted intervals mar the flow. If the film gets trimmed, it would become a great product.
