Devi Tamil Movie Review

Neat, Treat

STORY:

Krishna (Prabhu Deva), who lives in Mumbai and dreams of marrying a city girl, is forced by his family to enter wedlock with Devi (Tamannaah), a rural girl.

Left with no other option, Krishna ties the knot to her and brings her to Mumbai. They move into a new house, which is actually haunted by Ruby, the ghost of a small-time model who wanted to be an actress.

When Ruby takes over Devi to achieve her dream, Krishna, enters into a contract with the ghost to protect his wife. Now the onus is on Krishna to help Ruby realise her dream.

ANALYSIS:

Though the film begins at a leisure pace, things gain momentum when the story moves to Mumbai. It is a treat to watch Prabhu Deva on screen after a long gap and his performance is superb.

But the icing on the cake is Tamannah, who displays her talent to the fullest extent in two different shades. Others in the cast including Sonu Sood (as film star Raj Khanna) and R J Balaji are good.

For a film that has a ghost, Devi(L) is completely devoid of scares. Instead, director A L Vijay entertains and impresses us with interesting scenes. And he is aptly helped by a solid technical team.

Verdict: Good
