All guns blazing

STORY:

This third instalment of the Dabangg franchise is actually a prequel in part, and traces Chulbul Pandey’s journey from a young man named Dhaakad to police officer Chulbul Pandey, and his fight with the demons of his past.

Chulbul (Salman) spends his average day romancing his wife Rajjo (Sonakshi), troubling his brother Makkhi (Arbaaz) and fighting and reforming goons.

All goes well till he busts a prostitution racket and saves a bunch of girls, which angers the ringleader, the rich and powerful Balli (Sudeep).

ANALYSIS:

Director Prabhudheva paints a visual delight with Salman Khan aka Chulbul Pandey at the centre. Though many things have changed in Dabangg franchise, what hasn’t changed is Salman Khan’s dabanggai.

If his subordinate asks for a promotion he still shoots at him so that he can claim sarkaari compensation. His toxic yet all-in-jest banter with brother Makkhi (Arbaaz Khan) is still on.

Dabangg 3 offers all the ingredients of a masala entertainer, with clap-worthy dialogues, Chulbul’s swag and action.

While the narrative is often interrupted by the long line-up of songs, the movie puts in the right amount of comedy, drama and emotion, amidst all the smoke, fire and action.

Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Saiee Manjrekar bring another instalment to the already over-crowded franchise. Despite frantic action scenes and nasty jokes, the film is a heady masala cocktail.
