Charlie Chaplin 2 Movie Review

Comedy Champs

STORY:

Thiru (Prabhu Deva) works in a matrimonial company and successfully organises 99 weddings with help from his colleagues (Arvind Akash and Chandana Raj).

When he is about to venture into his 100th match making, his parents want him to get married. Soon, Thiru falls for Sara (Nikki Galrani), daughter of Ramakrishnan (Prabhu).

Sara too falls in love with Thiru and when everything seems to be going cool, enters Raja (Vivek), a friend of Thiru. He advices Thiru against marrying Sara and expresses suspicion over her character.

He also gives an evidence to support his claim. Following this, under the influence of alcohol, Thiru sends an abusive message to Sara which puts their marriage under trouble.

Meanwhile, another Sara (Adah Sharma) enters the scene adding more to the existing confusion. Is Thiru able to save his marriage or not forms the rest of Charlie Chaplin 2.

ANALYSIS:

Though not a classic, Charlie Chaplin, a 2002 comedy film featuring Prabhu and Prabhu Deva in lead roles, was a decent comedy which did well in the box-office.

Now, the same team of Prabhu Deva, Prabhu and director Sakthi Chidambaram has come up with its sequel. While the premise and treatment are the same, the second part, we must say, is not as impressive as the yesteryear flick.

There are enough confusions in the screenplay which evoke laughter in some scenes. Dialogues too add value to the proceedings. Prabhu Deva has not aged at all and performs well.

Prabhu, as heroine’s father, does justice to his role. Nikki looks good and dacnces well. Others in the cast including Adah Sharma, Chandhana Raj, Arvind Akash and Vivek Prasanna are right choices for their respective roles.

Amresh Ganesh has scored well in songs and Chinna Machan is already a huge hit. Cinematography by Soundararajan is colourful. On the whole, despite its own flaws, Charlie Chaplin 2 manages to evoke some laughter.
