In her first statement since she was hospitalised in September, Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa said on Sunday night, “I have taken rebirth because of people’s prayers.”
“Due to the continuous prayers by people in Tamil Nadu, in other states and across the world, I have taken rebirth and I am happy to share this information with you,” said Jayalalithaa in the opening of the letter.
Thanking the Tamils for the love they had showered on her, the Chief Minister said she was waiting to get back soon to routine official work after recovering fully.
“I do not know rest; I can’t stop working also,” she said, reiterating that she exists solely for the welfare of the people in Tamil Nadu.
“I request people of Tamil Nadu to vote for AIADMK in Thanjavur, Aravakurichi, Thiruparankundram and in Pondicherry. Though I’m unable do the campaigning in-person. My heart is there,” Jayalalithaa said.
She has also encouraged party workers to work hard for a win in by-elections to four assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on November 19, saying, “Waiting to hear news of an election victory.”
