Suriya’s Kaappaan released pushed to September

Kaappaan, Suriya’s third collaboration with director KV Anand, sees yet another release date change. The film, which was scheduled for an August 30 release, has now been postponed to September 20.

As Kaappaan is also dubbed in Telugu with the title Bandobast, the Telugu distributors advised them not to clash with Saaho so they are now looking to release the film on September 20.

The makers of Saaho also disclosed that they do not want to compromise on the quality of the film. Hence, they decided to postpone the film from August 15 to August 30. In Tamil, Suriya’s Kaappaan was also scheduled to release on August 30.

Kaappaan has been scripted jointly by director KV Anand and veteran writer Pattukottai Prabhakar with the former wielding the megaphone for it. Kaappaan is being bankrolled by A Subaskaran on a huge budget under his banner Lyca Productions.

Kaappaan stars Mohanlal and Suriya, who play the roles of the PM of India and first-rank SPG (Special Protection Officer) group respectively. Kaappaan also stars Arya, Samuthirakani, Boman Irani, Poorna and Saayeshaa, and is produced by Lyca Productions.

Harris Jayaraj is the music composer for this flick with Abhinandan Ramanujam roped in as the cinematographer and editing are done by Anthony. It may be mentioned here that MS Prabhu had worked as the cinematographer for the first schedule and he later replaced Abhinandan Ramanujam.

The change in Saaho’s release date has also affected Nani’s Gang Leader which was slated to release on August 30. Producers and distributors in Tamil and Telugu film industries are hoping that Saaho releases on time, which would help them plan other releases.
