Suriya’s fresh attack against education policy

Suriya has once again slammed the draft education policy, and said he has been placing questions about it as an ordinary citizen and a fellow human being.

In a fresh statement, he has thanked all those who supported him in his stand. “Only education can make poor students to grow big. Let us ensure that wing is not broken,” he said.

Stating that it gives fear to know that there is entrance exam in the new policy for every course, he said this will stop students from villages from pursuing higher studies.

“Education should not become a gamble of the rich. It is the responsibility of the government to give quality and free education to all,” he added.

Last week, expressing concern over the Centre’s National Education Policy at an event, Suriya had people to start discussions and raise questions on the policy, as he felt it had many loopholes.

He said some of the provisions of the policy would leave students from rural areas at a disadvantage. Suriya’s remarks have not gone down well with several politicians of the BJP, including Tamilisai Soundararajan and H Raja.

Kamal Haasan had supported Suriya for the latter’s speech about the education system. He ook to Twitter and posted a lengthy statement saying he condemned the “autocratic attitude of the Centre and the State”.

“I agree with many of the points Suriya raises and he has my support. I condemn the autocratic attitude of the Centre and the State,” the actor-politician added.
