Suriya 49: Actor in talks with Mandaadi director for coastal action drama
Actor Suriya is reportedly being considered for a new film with director Mathimaran Pugazhendi, whose recent work includes Mandaadi.
The project, tentatively referred to as Suriya49, is said to be an ambitious action drama set against a coastal backdrop.
Industry reports suggest that producer Kalaipuli S Thanu may back the film under his V Creations banner. However, neither Suriya nor Mathimaran has officially confirmed the collaboration.
Details about the storyline, supporting cast and production timeline have yet to be announced. If finalised, the project would mark the first time Suriya and Mathimaran work together.
Suriya and producer Thanu were previously associated with plans for Vaadivaasal, directed by Vetri Maaran. The project has remained delayed, with filming yet to commence.
Meanwhile, Suriya is preparing for the release of his upcoming action-comedy Scene, scheduled to arrive in theatres on November 6.
Directed by Jithu Madhavan of Aavesham fame, the film features Nazriya Nazim Fahadh and Naslen alongside Suriya. Jyothika and Suriya are producing the project under Zhagaram Studios.
The actor is also working with director T J Gnanavel on another film tentatively titled Suriya48.
