Sunainaa vows legal action over obscene ai-morphed video using her likeness
Actress Sunainaa has announced plans to pursue criminal and civil action against those allegedly responsible for creating and distributing an obscene video featuring a digitally altered version of her face.
In a statement posted on Instagram, the actor said her likeness had been superimposed on explicit material without her consent. She categorically denied any connection with the video and described attempts to associate her with it as false and misleading.
Sunainaa condemned the incident, saying the unauthorised manipulation of her image violated her dignity, privacy and identity. She also characterised the act as sexual harassment and defamation, stating that it could attract legal consequences under Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The actor has called on those involved to stop creating, uploading, forwarding or reposting the video, including modified versions of the material. She has also urged people who already possess the content, whether on social media accounts, messaging groups or personal devices, to delete it.
Her warning extends to anyone who distributes the video beyond its original source. Sunainaa said further circulation could also invite legal liability and made clear that she intends to proceed with legal action without issuing additional notices.
She has appealed to fans, members of the public and the media not to share the material. Instead, she has urged people to report it whenever they encounter it online.
The incident highlights growing concerns over the misuse of AI-based image manipulation to create explicit content without consent and the potential legal consequences for those who produce or circulate such material.
