Sudha Raghunathan sings for Ilayaraja

Sudha Raghunathan sings for Ilayaraja: Sudha Raghunathan has sung a song for Prakash Raj’s Kannada-Telugu bilingual, titled Idolle Ramayana in Kannada and Manavoori Ramayanam in Telugu.

“I suddenly got a call in the morning from Raaja sir’s studio. They asked me to come with the orchestra. We quickly went to his studio. Prakash was present and the song was for a Kannada- Telugu bilingual. It is a classical number intertwined with a lot of ragas,” says Sudha.

It is worth recalling that Sudha Raghunathan who had achieved a top position as a classical vocalist was introduced to cinema by none other than Ilaiayaraja in R Parthiepan’s ‘Ivan’ that released in 2002. She had sung three classical numbers in that album.

Now after a gap of 14 years the veteran’s divine voice will be heard in films.

She adds: “Working with him is always a pleasure. The song that I sang for Ivan gave me an identity in the field of playback singing. It was quite a challenging song, too.”
