Sudden Showers Bring Relief to Chennai Suburbs
Unexpected rains brought much-needed relief to several parts of Chennai on Tuesday morning, as temperatures took a sudden dip after days of scorching heat.
Areas including T. Nagar, Thousand Lights, Guindy, Vadapalani, and parts of Parrys experienced light to moderate rainfall, cooling down the otherwise sweltering city.
While the showers brought smiles to many faces, they also caused brief disruptions during the morning rush hour. Office-goers and schoolchildren had to brave wet roads and waterlogging in low-lying areas.
“It was a pleasant surprise. The heat had become unbearable, and this sudden rain felt like a blessing,” said N. Ramya, a resident of Vadapalani. However, not everyone was equally enthusiastic. “I got drenched on my way to the station, and the traffic moved at a snail’s pace. It’s good that the heat came down, but the timing was tough,” shared Karthik, a software engineer from Guindy.
According to weather officials, these showers were caused by localized atmospheric changes and may continue sporadically over the next couple of days. The Met department has not ruled out more isolated showers across the state.
While Chennaiites welcome the temporary respite, the city remains on alert for weather fluctuations as summer continues to intensify.
