Student hacked by gang at Kotturpuram railway station

A student was assaulted with knives at the platform of Kotturpuram Railway station by an unidentified gang on Monday.

He was hacked in full public view when he stepped out of a train at the Kotturpuram MRTS station. The student, identified as Tyron Michael of Washermenpet, and a girl, also studying in the same college, were talking to each other when the attack happened.

He is said to have suffered grave injuries. While the attackers flee the spot, Tyron was rushed to the hospital. He is said to be in a serious condition. Police suspect a fallout between college friends.

According to police, Tyron arrived on platform number one and was speaking to a girl when the two men approached him and said something. They chased away the girl and whipped out knives and sickles.

Tyron tried to run, but was caught and one of them hacked him on the head and face. Two government railway police personnel had just left the platform to regulate the crowd at the booking office when the incident occurred.
