The president of Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), Vishal, who is also the chief of the actors body Nadigar Sangam, has hinted that the ongoing strike in Kollywood will end soon.
Vishal, who held hours of marathon meeting with theatre owners associations, FEFSI, producers and distributors, Vishal said that a few crucial decisions have been taken at the deliberation. “We will try to implement them at the earliest.”
He said that another round of meeting would be convened soon and a final decision would be arrived at.
Following the strike, over 50 films that were ready to hit the screens are lying in cans. Shootings of more than 75 films have come to a halt.
He said in an interview: “First and foremost we produce over 200 films a year and 80 % of them are small films and the producer finds the VPF to be too high.”
He added: “Take my recent film Thupparivaalan; I ended up paying nearly Rs 90 lakhs as VPF as the film was a hit and ran for weeks.”
