Stella Maris College celebrates the World PR Day
The Post Graduate Department of Public Relations, Stella Maris College, Chennai, celebrated the World PR Day on July 16, 2024, at the College campus, on the theme Public Relations 2.0 – The future of PR in a changing world, featuring women leading in the PR business.
As part of the celebrations, the Department organised a panel discussion on navigating the dynamics and complexities of Public Relations in the digital world, moderated by Ms. Smriti Ragunandhan, Partner and Business Director, The Mavericks. The panellists were Ms. Kavya Baburaj, Founder and CEO, Social PR, Ms. Gayatri Bhandran, Deputy Manager, Corporate Brand and Communications, MINDSPRINT and Ms. Pavithra Lakshmanan, Branch Head, Brand-Comm Private Limited. It is to note that the panellists and the moderator are also the proud alumnae of Stella Maris College.
The discussion aimed to explore the evolving landscape of Public Relations in today’s dynamic environment, focusing on innovative strategies and emerging trends that shape the future of PR practices. It also threw light on how Public Relations has transformed, over the years, into one of the most important policy functions in any organisation making it often the go-to role for decision making along with brand building, reputation management and relationship management.
The panel discussion was followed by a special address by Ms. Archana Mohta, Head of Marketing and PR, Wonderful Pistachios & Almonds, Mumbai who brought an extensive experience in brand management and strategic communications. In her address, she threw insights on thought leadership as an important factor for Public Relations practices.
As part of the celebrations, the Department recognised its alumnae, Ms. Kavya Baburaj, Ms. Gayatri Bhadran and Ms. Pavithra Lakshmanan with ‘Inspiring Alumna’ award for the year.
