Stalin wonders over Jaya’s ‘all is well’ statement

DMK treasurer M K Stalin has hit out at chief minister J Jayalalithaa for her statement on Sunday, in which she said she has recovered from illness and requested people of Thanjavur, Thirupparankundram and Aravakurichi constituencies to support AIADMK candidates during the November 19 polls.

In a Facebook post, the opposition leader in Tamil Nadu Assembly said how could she come out with such a statement when people are suffering due to the union government’s move to demonetise old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes.

This shows she is not concerned about the people, he said and also added whether the statement was really issued by her. He also requested an explanation from her.

In her first statement since she was hospitalised in September, Jayalalithaa said on Sunday night, “I have taken rebirth because of people’s prayers.”

“Due to the continuous prayers by people in Tamil Nadu, in other states and across the world, I have taken rebirth and I am happy to share this information with you,” said Jayalalithaa in the opening of the letter.

Thanking the Tamils for the love they had showered on her, the Chief Minister said she was waiting to get back soon to routine official work after recovering fully.
