Stalin tells cadres to unite to win in Lok Sabha elections

Chief minister M K Stalin has instructed DMK district secretaries to shed their differences with fellow partymen and put up a united fight against political rivals to ensure victory in the Lok Sabha elections.

In his virtual address to district secretaries and constituency observers on Sunday, Stalin warned that district secretaries, who fail to cooperate with candidates in the elections would face action.

Party sources said Stalin, while emphasising the role of district secretaries, warned that he would not hesitate to remove them if a candidate gets defeated in their district. Sources said Stalin had also warned that DMK district secretaries would face action even if candidates fielded by alliance parties get defeated.

“The movement (DMK) and its victory are more important than any individual,” Stalin said at the meeting, according to a statement issued by the DMK.

Party functionaries said Stalin exuded confidence that the DMK enjoyed wide support among the people and that the INDIA bloc would sweep the polls in Tamil Nadu. At the same time, he was cautious that overconfidence should not dent the prospects of DMK, especially when he has been playing a crucial role at a national level.

“There is a widespread perception that the BJP cannot form a government after the 2024 polls and that the INDIA alliance would be forming the government. This has scaled up our responsibility and duty,’’ he said.
