Stalin behind Jallikattu violence: Natarajan

DMK working president M K Stalin instigated the peaceful agitation of students for jallikattu, husband of AIADMK general secrertary V K Sasikala, M Natarajan has alleged.

He alleged that leader of the opposition and DMK working president M K Stalin and his party were behind the violence in Chennai on Monday last.

He demanded that Stalin “take responsibility and apologise” for the violence.

Talking to reporters, Natarajan, who is also the editor of Tamil magazine Puthiya Parvai, said Stalin should “apologise for it.”

He said action should be taken against those who were behind the violence including some police personnel who face allegations in this connection vis-a-vis the protests for jallikattu.

On January 23, after police started evicting pro-jallikattu protesters from Marina Beach, a group of protesters set Ice House police station on fire and protesters clashed with police in many parts of the city.

Natarajan said police, who found out about the plan, tried to prevent it by asking the protesters to disperse. He alleged that that was when “they started pelting the cops with stones” and “set the police station on fire.”
