The police have formed special teams and the help of cyber experts from private agencies has been sought to catch those spreading rumours about the health of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
“They will help the Cyber Crime wing,” a senior official of Central Crime Branch (CCB) of City Police dealing with the matter was quoted as saying
He said the Cyber Crime wing will keep a watch on social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp and YouTube which are allegedly being misused to spread rumours about Jayalalithaa, who is undergoing treatment since September 22.
Central crime branch sleuths of Chennai city police have arrested two people including a software engineer for spreading rumours about health of Jayalalithaa.
The arrested were identified as Satish Kumar, 26, and Madasamy, 25. Satish Kumar has studied MCA and is employed in a private firm while Madasamy has been employed in a private company in Velachery.
Officers of CCB also said over 43 cases were registered in connection with posting of false information by miscreants in Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and WhatsApp.
