SPB’s health: Advice sought from foreign doctors

With veteran singer S P Balasubrahmanyam (SPB) continuing to get treatment at a private hospital in Chennai, sources said advice has been sought from a few foreign experts. Sources also said he is showing slight improvement.

Meanwhile in a video statement, SPB’s son and singer-actor S P Charan said, “There are rumours that dad is off the ventilator. But, that is not true. Though we do wish that he does come through, he continues to be on the ventilator.”

Charan added: “He is being scrutinized by the medical team at the hospital and he is being taken care off really well. We are confident that your prayers are working and helping. Keep the prayers coming. And, thanks for all the love, concern and prayers.”

SPB’s sister SP Sailaja has confirmed in a voice note that her brother SP Balasubrahmanyam (SPB) is on the road to recovery and he has been relieved of the ventilator support.

Last Friday, legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of MGM Healthcare, Chennai after his health condition deteriorated. He was admitted to the hospital on August 5 after he tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a voice note, she shared on Tuesday, she said: “He’s getting better with each passing day and the progress is evident. Doctors are very happy. He has been taken off the ventilator but he’s still being closely monitored. He’s also able to pass urine freely. I know that the whole world is praying for him and he’ll come out of this situation very soon.”

Balasubrahmanyam was admitted to Chennai’s MGM Healthcare earlier this month after testing positive for coronavirus. He was later shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after suffering a setback on August 13.
