Soppana Sundari movie review

Story:

Aishwarya Rajesh is from a lower-middle-class family and lives with her mother Deepa Shankar and speech-impaired sister Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli.

One day the family receives a call saying that they have won a Swift car as part of a lucky draw contest.

The family is elated as they feel that they give it as dowry to Shah Ra and get Lakshmi Priyaa married to him.

However, there is a twist in the tale as Aishwarya’s estranged brother claims that the car rightfully belongs to him.

Meanwhile, the car is also involved in a major crime and has its own secret.

How does all this ends forms the crux of Soppana Sundari.

Analysis:

Director SG Charles’ has got a clear vision and has executed in a fairly engaging manner.

The storyline is simple, but the quirky treatment makes the movie all the more entertaining with good dark comedy.

Casting is the biggest strength of the movie. Aishwarya Rajesh’s character is quite impressive and she has done complete justice to the role.

She lets her acting do all the talking and is impressive.

With an ensemble of cast including Deepa Shankar, Sunil Reddy, Bjorn Surrao, and Redin Kingsley, the humour has worked out quite well.

Vishal Chandrasekhar’s background score is impressive and music by Ajmal Tahseen is good.

Cinematography by G Balamurugan and Vignesh Rajagopalan lives upto the expectations.

Rating: 3.4/5
