Veteran actor Sivakumar, who had shared the screen space with late chief minister J Jayalalithaa in nearly eight films has sent a press note remembering the AIADMK supremo, who passed away on Monday night.
Right from the inception of human life, we have been treating women as a slave, unpaid maid and child bearing machine, he said in the statement.
“Even legends like Socrates, Aristotle, Demosthenes, Tolstoy and Ghandhiji had looked upon women only in second tier. From that community, J Jayalalitha has become a wonder woman, she holds a special place in the hearts of billions of people,” he stated further.
“On the lines of Margaret Thatcher and Indira Gandhi, Jayalalitha is an Iron Lady. Right from her acting career, she lived like a queen. In 20 years, Jayalalaitha had acted in 116 films and I had the privilege to share screen space with her in eight films.”
“In Kanthan Karunai, she acted as Valli and I played Murugan. Similarly in Krishna Leela, she acted as Bama and I played Krishna. She has always respected me as a fellow actor and graced the wedding events of my three kids,” he said.
“In her 34 years of political career, Jayalalithaa was in power for 15 years. She had single handedly forayed into male chauvinistic politics and earned the support of billions of people to become Chief Minister for five times, it was a historical achievement. Suriya, Karthi and I had paid our last respect. May her sour rest in peace”, he concluded.
