Sivakarthikeyan, Mithran to come together for Hero sequel

Even before the release of Hero, there is a buzz that the film’s protagonist Sivakarthikeyan and director Mithran would join hands once again for its sequel.

Sources close the movie’s unit said a sequel of the film is on the cards and the film will turn into a franchise if it becomes a super hit. Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, plays Siva’s love interest in the film and this film marks the Tamil debut of Kalyani.

The film is being bankrolled by Kotapadi J Rajesh under his KJR Studios banner. The film touted to be an action-thriller will see Sivakarthikeyan playing the role of a superhero in the film.

The movie’s trailer introduces us to Shakthi (Sivakarthikeyan) who dreams of being a superhero, in the trailer. He is seen forging certificates and clicking pictures of himself felicitating degree scrolls for various professions at a studio. Kalyani Priyadarshan who is trailed by the hero along with Blacksheep fame Vivek Anandan and Abdul Ayaz also features in the trailer.

The film has cleared the censor process with a clean ‘U’ certificate. In the film, Sivakarthikeyan is said to be playing a small-time criminal who realizes his mistake to become a vigilante superhero and fight against the discrepancies in the educational system.

Recently, Sivakarthikeyan had revealed some interesting details about his upcoming film Hero, which has been helmed by Mithran of Irumbu Thirai fame. He has said he is thrilled and excited to be a part of a superhero film.

He said: “It was my cinematographer George who initiate and assembled this project. Before this film, he was just a friend but now, I have become a fan of his effortless working style.

Years ago, I worked with Mithran, Ruben and George in a short film. At the Seema Raja shooting spot, got to know the basic plot of Hero and immediately gave my nod”.

Sivakarthikeyan said further: “Personally, I’m a big fan of Superhero films. Now, I’m thrilled and excited to be a part of one such film. I should also thank Shankar sir for showing us the path to think different and big”.
