‘Singa’: India’s first full-length film to feature a real lion
Produced by V. Mathiyazhagan in association with Thithir Film House under Etchedra Entertainment banner, the film is directed by K.C. Ravidevan and stars Shritha Rao in the lead role.
For the first time in India, a full-length film is being made with a real lion. The film, titled ‘Singa’, is being produced by V. Mathiyazhagan under the Etcetra Entertainment banner in association with Thithir Film House on a grand budget.
‘Singa’, directed by K.C. Ravidevan, assistant director of ‘Ulaga Nayagan’ Kamal Haasan and a film college student, features Shreeta Rao, who has acted in films including ‘Lenin Pandian’ and ‘Kumki 2’ directed by Prabhu Solomon, as the female lead.
‘Singa’, which is being made as a pan-India film in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, is the 14th film produced by V. Mathiyazhagan. It is noteworthy that he has previously produced films including ‘Appa’, ‘Kolayuthir Kaalam’, ‘Maha’, ‘Marinduthiruthi Marmam Enna’ and ‘Saamaaniyan’.
K.C. Ravidevan, who is writing the story and screenplay and directing the film, said, “We are making this challenging film by following all the rules. When we approached some leading actresses to play the heroine, they were hesitant to act with a real lion, even though they liked the story. But Shritha Rao bravely came forward to act and is giving a great contribution.
A negative female character in the film had to act with 300 wolves. After a rigorous search, we found the right, fearless actress. Leesha Eclairs, who has acted in films including ‘1945’, ‘Pothunalan Kaurthi’ and ‘Jawan’, has played the role effectively.
“Shooting is ongoing in locations including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Zambia, Goa, Tenkasi, and Visakhapatnam. Since this is a story that transcends languages, we are making ‘Singa’ as a pan-India film. We believe that everyone from children to adults will enjoy the film,” he said.
Amrish is composing the music for the film ‘Singa’, while Kannan Selvaraj is writing the dialogues. P.G. For the very first time in India, a full-length feature film is being made with a real lion. Titled ‘Singha’, the movie is being produced on a grand scale by V. Mathiyalagan under the banner of Etcetera Entertainment, in collaboration with Thithir Film House Pvt Ltd.
KC Ravi Devan, a former assistant director to ‘Ulaganayagan’ Kamal Haasan and a film institute alumni, is directing ‘Singha’. Shrrita Rao, who has previously acted in films like ‘Lenin Pandian’ and ‘Kumki 2’ directed by Prabhu Solomon, plays the lead role.
Being created as a pan-India film in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, ‘Singha’ marks the 14th film produced by V. Mathiyalagan. Notably, he has earlier bankrolled films such as ‘Appa’, ‘Kolaiyuthir Kaalam’, ‘Maha’, ‘Marainthirunthu Paarkum Marmam Enna’ and ‘Saamaniyan’.
Speaking about the film, director KC Ravithevan said: “We are making this challenging film by strictly following all required protocols and guidelines. When we approached a few leading actresses for the role, although they liked the story, they hesitated to act alongside a real lion. But Shrrita Rao stepped up bravely and has been giving an excellent performance.”
