“Sing Geetham” Movie Review
“A Musical Masterpiece That Redefines Storytelling.”
At 94, Singeetham Srinivasa Rao continues to redefine creative boundaries, proving that passion for cinema knows no age. Widely regarded as India’s oldest active filmmaker, he returns with “Sing Geetham,” a bold and unconventional musical that narrates its entire story through songs rather than traditional dialogue. Supported by producer Nag Ashwin and enriched by Devi Sri Prasad’s vibrant musical score, the film stands out as a refreshing cinematic experiment that celebrates innovation and artistic storytelling.
Set in the mining village of Kuberapuram, the story revolves around environmental conservation, human greed, and the power of truth. When young Gowri prays to the village deity to end dishonesty, a miraculous event leaves everyone communicating only through songs. This imaginative premise forms the foundation for a heartfelt narrative that blends fantasy, emotion, and social relevance.
Ahilya Bamroo delivers a sincere performance as Gowri, bringing innocence and determination to the role. Ayaan and Shalini Kondepudi are equally convincing, while Rahul Ravindran and veteran actress Tulasi provide solid support. Nivetha Pethuraj, despite her brief appearance in a flashback, leaves a lasting emotional impact and emerges as one of the film’s biggest highlights. Vijay Deverakonda’s special cameo adds extra excitement for audiences.
One of the film’s greatest strengths is Devi Sri Prasad’s exceptional musical score. Crafting an entire narrative through songs is no easy feat, but DSP succeeds brilliantly by creating melodies and background music that seamlessly drive the story forward. His work makes the unusual storytelling format feel natural and engaging.
Visually, “Sing Geetham” impresses with its rich production design and picturesque cinematography. The second half becomes increasingly engaging, with emotionally powerful moments, visually stunning sequences, and a meaningful environmental message that resonates long after the film ends.
Rather than following the formula of a commercial entertainer, “Sing Geetham” stands out as a bold artistic experiment. Singeetham Srinivasa Rao deserves immense appreciation for challenging conventional filmmaking and presenting audiences with something genuinely different. While the film’s simple story serves as a vehicle for its unique presentation, its originality, emotional depth, and inspiring message make it a memorable watch. “Sing Geetham” is an out-of-the-box musical experience that celebrates creativity, innovation, and the timeless spirit of a legendary filmmaker.
