“Sigma” Movie Review

Debt, Drugs & Double-Crosses — One Librarian, One Dangerous Game!

Sigma is an engaging crime thriller that brings together drugs, illegal casinos, robberies, debt, and double-crossings in an entertaining package. The story revolves around Guru (Sundeep Kishan), a librarian whose simple life takes an unexpected turn when he finds himself caught in a dangerous underworld network.

The film opens with businessman and underworld figure Kotlapatti Veerayya Reddy (Sampath Raj) and Ezhil (Kiran Konda) discussing a plan to expand the use of synthetic drugs through Vincent’s (Shiv Pandit) secret casino. Meanwhile, Guru is struggling to keep his library running while dealing with a huge debt. At his mother’s request, he tries to find a way out of his financial troubles, and his unusual attempt to earn money through a podcast about books adds an interesting and lighter dimension to his character.

Director Jason brings together a large group of characters, each with their own motives and connections. Faria Abdullah as Sam adds charm to the narrative, while Raju Sundaram, Anbuth Dasan and others contribute to the film’s lively ensemble. The antagonists, including Sampath Raj’s Veera Reddy and Shiv Pandit’s Vincent, give the story a strong criminal backdrop. Ezhil becomes an important link between the different worlds, while Mahalakshmi Sudarsanan’s Sarangi brings another layer of intrigue with her own plans and double-crossing.

One of the film’s notable strengths is the way it builds its world through a colourful collection of characters and situations. Masked robbers, secret keys, pen drives, underground vaults, a mysterious killer and even a dog add variety to the proceedings. These elements give the film a distinct commercial-cinema flavour.

The technical aspects further enhance the experience. Krishnan Vasanth’s cinematography gives the film a stylish visual texture, particularly during the action portions. The extended climax is packed with energy, while the stunt sequences are among the film’s highlights. The multi-level car-parking action sequence is especially impressive and demonstrates the director’s ability to stage large-scale action involving multiple characters and conflicting motivations.

Overall, Sigma combines crime, action, suspense and quirky characterisation to deliver an entertaining theatrical experience. Its energetic action blocks, colourful ensemble and stylish presentation make it an enjoyable addition to the crime-thriller genre.
