Shruti Haasan opposite Vijay Sethupathi in Jananathan’s Laabam

Nearly three years after Vedalam, Shruti Haasan is back in Kollywood with Vijay Sethupathi’s new film Laabam (Profit!), to be directed by S P Jananathan of Ee and Peranmai fame.

Besides Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan, Kalaiyarasan also plays a pivotal role in the film, produced by 7Cs Entertainment and Vijay Sethupathi Productions.

The shoot of Laabam kick-started in Rajapalayam on Monday with an auspicious pooja event. The makers will soon announce the rest of the cast and crew associated with Laabam.

Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu is also playing a key role in this flick. Meanwhile, Vijay is busy with nearly half a dozen projects in his kitty currently. Last seen playing a transwoman in Super Deluxe, he currently awaits the release of Tamil actioner Sindhubaadh.

He also has Tamil film Mamanithan with director Seenu Ramaswamy in the pipeline. He’s currently shooting for a project with director Vijay Chander of Vaalu and Sketch fame.

Shruti hasn’t signed any Tamil projects for close to three years now. She had recently signed a Hindi film with actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar.

D Imman has been roped in to compose music for Laabam while Ramji will crank the camera.
