Shocking: Vairamuthu worked with 37 music directors to beat Ilayaraja

Vairamuthu has made a shocking revelation that after his separation with Ilayaraja, he had worked with 37 music composers to beat the maestro, but he couldn’t.

At a recent event, he said, “After separated from a well-known music composer, I worked with thirty-seven music composers to beat him but sadly I couldn’t.

On one fine day, I got a call from K Balachander who asked me to write songs for a debut music composer’s album. I went to the recording room, there was a small boy and I asked him, ‘Hey Dileep, you have now become a music composer?’. Yes, my success journey with AR Rahman started only through Balachander.”

Meanwhile, Vairamuthu’s new work Thamizhattru Padai was launched at a function in Chennai on Friday. It saw the presence of DMK president M K Stalin, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Chidambaram said hat only Hindi is being used as administrative language by the Centre, only Hindi is spoken in Parliament by the Ministers and among the officials and so on.

He said further: “There is a great danger that has surrounded non-Hindi languages. So, all non-Hindi language speakers must band together and protest, if necessary.

We are eligible to lead this fight. As a first step, we must understand that language and Tamil ‘Inam’ are not different. It is not enough to say Tamil Vazhga but do everything for Tamil to thrive.”

In his address, Stalin said that Vairamuthu’s book had come at the right time. “There are attempts to somehow destroy the pride of Tamil language and Dravidian movement. They want to bring back the hegemony of north Indian languages. The book has come out at the right time,” he added.
