Nepotism is the word on every mouth after Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Raput’s alleged suicide. A few days ago, A R Rahman and Resul Pookutty, both Oscar winners, stated they were facing opposition from some people in Bollywood.
And now, with cinematographer-turned-actor Natty aka Natraj taking to Twitter to say that groupism exists in Tamil cinema, Shanthnu Bhagyaraj replied to the tweet saying that nepotism exists in Kollywood as well.
The Sakkarakatti actor tweeted: #Nepotism இங்கேயும் உள்ளது.. அதே குருபிசம் நபர்கள் தான் நம்முடன் யார் வேலை செய்ய வேண்டும் என்பதை தீர்மானிப்பார்கள்…”
Son of Bhagyaraj, Shanthnu added: “தரத்தை பராமரிக்க அவர்கள் ஒரு சிலரை ஆதரிக்கிறார்கள், மற்றவர்களை தங்கள் தரத்தை அதிகரிக்க அனுமதிக்க மாட்டார்கள்.”
Shanthnu is currently part of Vijay-starrer Master and other projects. His father Bhagyaraj said recently, “I agree that star kids will get the opening into the film industry easily. But the backing of star parents alone will not help the actor kids. There are numerous star kids who are still struggling.”
Shanthnu will be playing the lead in a film titled Murungaikai Chips. Produced by Libra Productions and First Man Films, and directed by Srijar, the film’s first look was released recently.
“It’s a fun-filled romantic comedy that’s about a couple and custom and tradition-based issues they face when they’re all set for their first night. Whether they are able to succeed forms the crux of the story. Shanthnu and Athulya Ravi play the couple and K Bhagyaraj sir will play Shanthnu’s grandfather,” says the director.
