Shankar talks against sequels

Director Shankar has said that sequels should not be made just for the sake it. It is to be noted that the filmmaker had made 2.0, a sequel to his Enthiran and is currently busy with Indian 2, a sequel to his Indian.

In an interview, Shankar said that he thought of making Indian 2 even while shooting for Jeans. “As soon as we completed Indian,  Kamal sir initiated the sequel idea but told him that I don’t have the script at that time.

I also didn’t want to make a sequel for the sake of it. While shooting for Jeans, I got an idea but made a list of things to not place in the sequel. Slowly, I developed the script as I got the right spark”, he stated.

Talking about Anniyan 2, Shankar said: “As I mentioned earlier, we shouldn’t make sequels for the sake of it. People will compare the sequel with the original and there are chances for them to easily reject the content. Only if we get the right script and idea, sequels can be done”.
