Self-enumeration for Census 2027 begins in Tamil Nadu, door-to-door process to commence soon

The self-enumeration phase of the House Listing and Housing Census under the first phase of Census 2027 has commenced in Tamil Nadu and Tripura.

Residents can submit household details online until July 31 through the official Census self-enumeration portal. Authorities have advised households completing the process digitally to retain the generated Self-Enumeration ID and present it to census officials during field verification.

Door-to-door enumeration is scheduled to take place between August 1 and August 30. Meanwhile, Governor-in-charge Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar appealed to the public to participate actively, describing the Census as an important exercise that supports policy formulation, governance and development planning.

He noted that, for the first time, citizens have the option to complete census details through an online portal and mobile application. Households that do not use the digital facility will be covered during the scheduled field visits by census enumerators.
