Seema Raja becomes Sivakarthikeyan’s biggest hit, collects Rs 13.5 crore on day 1

Seema Raja, which hit the screens on Vinayaka Chathurthi (Thursday), has collected Rs 13.5 crore on the first day itself, becoming the biggest blockbuster in the career of Sivakarthikeyan so far.

In a release, the film’s producer RD Raja has declared that Seema Raja grossed Rs 13.5 crores on day one, a new record among all the films of the actor.

“Seema Raja has broken the opening record of Sivakarthikeyan’s earlier films and has registered a whopping opening day collection of 13.5 crores. If the trends in the box office are to be considered Seema Raja will find himself in the box office books,” he said.

Raja added: “We have screened the film in more than 550 screens and there are huge possibilities of increase in the screens. I’m thankful for the media, exhibitors, and the audience for the overwhelming support.”

Seema Raja marks Sivakarthikeyan reunion with director Ponram, who has given the actor two hits so far. In 2013, the actor-director duo delivered Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam, which helped Sivakarthikeyan cement his position as a leading actor.

The box office collection of Rajini Murugan in 2015 put Sivakarthikeyan in the big league of Tamil movie stars.

Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film has earned a whopping amount of Rs 13.5 crore in Tamil Nadu on its opening day.
