Slain Hindu Munnani spokesman C Sasikumar’s wife, Yamuna (30), attempted suicide at her residence in Subramaniyampalayam in Coimbatore on Thursday.
According to police, Sasikumar’s brother C Dhanapal was the first to notice her consuming a chemical substance kept outside the house.

On Tuesday, director-general of police T K Rajendran issued the order transferring the case registered in the Thudiyalur police station and requested Coimbatore rural SP Ramya Bharathi to instruct the investigating officer to hand over the case files to the CBCID.
Thr transfer of the case comes six days after a gang waylaid Sasikumar, 36, and hacked him to death near his house at Subramaniampalayam near Thudiyalur.
The rural police had formed eight special teams that so far questioned more than 100 people in connection with the case. However, they could make no headway in the case.
