Just one film of her (Jaanu) bombed at the box-office and Samantha was labeled as ‘flop heroine’ by a few sections of the media. The actress has sharply reacted to it.
“Even if a star hero gets three back-to-back flops, people would still go and watch his fourth film in the theaters. For them, the walking of their favourite hero on the screen is enough. But, unfortunately, they blame the heroine for the film’s flop,” she said.
The actress, who was part of many super hit movies in Kollywood and Tollywood, said: “Just because ‘Oh! Baby’ turned out to be a big hit, I cannot do another women-centric project as people might not accept a solo film again.’
“Also, I don’t understand why women don’t get equally paid like men. Women are working as hard as women,” the Irumbu Thirai, Naan Ee and Rangasthalam heroine said.
Samantha Akkineni sounded disappointed on being called out for her films not doing well at the box office. The south siren last featured in the south drama titled Jaanu. Samantha Akkineni featured as the female lead opposite south actor Sharwanand.
The film Jaanu was a remake of the blockbuster film 96 which had makkal selvan Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan in the lead. The film did exceedingly well at the box office.
Samantha Akkineni also received support from many celebrities. The actress will next be seen in her first full-fledged horror film which will be helmed by Ashwin Saravanan.
She is also a part of Vijay Sethupati and Nayanthara starrer Tamil film, Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kadhal.
