Samantha opposite Lawrence in Rangasthalam remake?

Now that it is almost confirmed that Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam, a commercial and critical Telugu hit last year, is all set to be remade in Tamil and Raghava Lawrence would play the lead role in the film to be directed by Lingusamy, there is a buzz about the movie’s heroine.

According to sources, Samantha Akkineni, who won many hearts with her beautiful performance in the original version, would reprise her role in the remake too. However, an official confirmation in this regard is awaited.

Rangasthalam was a period action drama that had Ram Charan playing the role of a partially deaf person while Samantha played the female lead. Directed by Sukumar, the film released last year and opened to packed houses across the world, becoming a blockbuster hit.

The film, notably, also became the highest opener among the Telugu films in Chennai. Now, reports suggest that Lawrance will be teaming up next with director Lingusamy for an untitled project, which is said to be the Tamil remake of Ram Charan’s 2018 blockbuster hit Rangasthalam.

Besides Rangasthalam remake, Lawrence is currently busy directing Laaxmi Bomb, the Hindi remake of Kanchana with Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani. The Kanchana actor has also signed a film with Sun Pictures and it is likely to start rolling by the end of this year.

Rangasthalam is set in the eponymous fictional village during the 1980s. It narrates the story of two brothers Chittibabu (Charan) and Kumar Babu (Pinisetty) who oppose the local Government body and the corrupt Co-operative society led by the village’s president Phanindra Bhupathi (Babu).
