Rukmini Vasanth joins Shree Karthick’s next Tamil film as character Thara
Actor Rukmini Vasanth is set to collaborate with filmmaker Shree Karthick on an upcoming Tamil film that has yet to receive an official title. The project also features Dev Ramnath and Vinayak Vaithianathan.
The filmmakers recently revealed Rukmini’s involvement through a promotional video introducing her character, Thara. The clip shows Shree Karthick, Dev Ramnath and Vinayak Vaithianathan discussing the character before a notification reveals Rukmini’s casting.
The film marks the first time Rukmini and Shree Karthick have worked together. Karthick made his directorial debut with “Kanam”, a time-travel drama that explored the emotional bond between a mother and her son.
The upcoming project is being produced by Madboys Entertainment and Siruni Cine Corporation, with Saikrishna Gadwal serving as co-producer. The makers are expected to announce the film’s title shortly.
Rukmini, who has drawn attention for her performances in “Sapta Sagaradaache Ello” and “Kantara: Chapter 1”, continues to expand her presence across South Indian cinema.
Madboys Entertainment, founded by Dev Ramnath and Shree Karthick, has previously worked on the Tamil web series “I Hate You – I Love You” and the award-winning short film “Childhood Diaries”. The company is now pursuing a wider slate of feature films.
Siruni Cine Corporation, associated with producer Jaswanth, has backed projects including “Chi La Sow”, directed by Rahul Ravindran, which received the National Film Award for Best Original Screenplay. Co-producer Saikrishna Gadwal has also been associated with films such as “Keedaa Cola” and “Kaantha”.
In a distinctive promotional move, Madboys Entertainment has documented the project’s development through an Instagram-exclusive docu-drama series. The series, which has released nine episodes so far, blends real-life experiences with dramatized storytelling and culminates in the announcement of Rukmini as Thara.
The film’s title and further details about its storyline are expected to be revealed in the coming days.
